Vieques, Puerto Rico Beach Wedding

Vieques, Puerto Rico my heart.

Our 5 year anniversary was a few days before the wedding I was hired for, so Matt and I obviously had to extend the trip for a little extra exploring. The city of San Juan was amazing, but most of our time was spent on the island of Vieques, which is one of the most unique environments I’ve ever been in. We took a 5 minute plane ride from the main island to Vieques in the tiniest little put-put plane I’ve ever seen. It was shocking that Matt and I both fit behind the pilot. If you envision a small airplane mixed with a helicopter, that’s basically what it was. Anyway, it was a freakin’ blast and we highly recommend!

Vieques has more horses than people, doesn’t have streetlights or road markings, is incredibly beautiful, rich in color, small and intimate and a total blast. It’s a unique island vibe that I think everyone needs to experience….especially when spent at a gorgeous beachfront wedding venue. If you keep scrolling, you’ll see photos of the home my couple rented. It had fields of horses above it and a perfect sandy beach beside it. Sofia & Taylor had a small few stay with them in the home before the wedding to really add to the “wedding weekend” vibe. After their ceremony though, they had the house to themselves for their honeymoon…obviously!

Before their wedding they barhopped “downtown Vieques,” stayed up late, swam in the ocean, ate delicious Puerto Rican food, and partied with their people. After their wedding, they had days to continue exploring the island as a couple. I love that they had both experiences in one.

They truly created an entire experience out of their wedding - it was so authentic and exactly how they wanted to celebrate and it was just the most beautiful thing to witness.
